Dear Montville Community:

For many of us, school brings back memories of lunch boxes, chalkboards, good friends, a great teacher or two, and Prom dates, along with assignment due dates, tests, and final exams.  With the help of our schools we are given the foundation for a successful life and the foundation for life long learning.  With a solid educational foundation, we are able to make goals and attain them using the tools given to us during our years in the classroom. 

The same can be said about our community.  Our community is the foundation where we choose to live, raise our families, and play, make life-long friends, volunteer, and work.  It is where we learn to care for other people, develop a sense of civic duty and social responsibility.  A community foundation is the bedrock upon which a house, business, and a life are built and where life long learning continues.

It is with pleasure that I write to you about the Montville Education Foundation, Inc., (MEF). For over a year a group of dedicated volunteers committed to excellence in education in our schools and in our community came together and founded the Montville Education Foundation, Inc.  The MEF board is very excited at the prospects of funding an exciting array of projects and programs promoting learning across generations.  Our goal is simple:  To provide the Montville community the supplemental learning tools and opportunities for their life long learning experience.

I have long believed that the schools are the backbone of our community and that our outstanding schools benefit the entire community - economically, culturally and intellectually.  MEF brings schools, the community and its residents together to improve education: to help our community at large strive for excellence and achievement, and to expand the horizons of knowledge.  MEF endeavors not only to enhance the lives of Montville’s residents, but in doing so to strengthen the community as a whole. 

To assist in accomplishing awarding grants to projects and purchases that support initiatives, the Foundation will seek to generate funds not otherwise available.  However, we can’t do it alone.   There are many things you can do to support the Montville Education Foundation, Inc.  You can contribute to the Annual Giving Appeal, attend a Foundation-sponsored event or become a Friend of MEF.

This is community involvement at its finest.  With your help, we can make a difference for our entire community.
